HCA awards are given to recognize the achievements of HCA members and their dogs. Awards are given only to current HCA members. Awards are given for accomplishments at AKC shows. The awards are presented annually at the HCA annual dinner held in conjunction with the National Specialty show. Awards will be mailed to those members not in attendance at the annual dinner. |

The Dog Writers Association of America was founded in 1935 in the Westminster Club's meeting room. There were many writers, editors, and publishers invited and eight awards were given, The tradition has been followed, every year since then, to have a large social dinner meeting before Westminster to present awards in various categories designed to encourage quality writing about dogs in all aspects of the sport. Both amateurs and professionals compete. The dinner this year was held on February, 8, 2009 and our own Carolyn Heaton and the Hotline Staff won the award sponsored by the AKC for AKC Club Publication Excellence!!!
