HCA Show Events Committee

Mission Statement

The Havanese Club of America Show Events Committee is responsible for planning and organizing the HCA National Specialty and Local Havanese Specialties held under the HCA license. It coordinates and oversees the timely filing of show applications with the Events Department of the AKC. The Committee is comprised of members who represent local Havanese clubs which hold Specialty Shows under the license of the HCA. The Show Events Committee, in conjunction with the office of HCA Recording Secretary, is also responsible for local Havanese club development.

Havanese Club of America National Specialty

The HCA National Specialty is an annual event, organized as a Havanese Breed showcase; it includes Havanese show competition, as well as educational programs and social activities. The Havanese National Specialty is a two day intense immersion in the Havanese Breed. You'll have a chance to watch the world's largest gathering of Havanese compete in the show ring, as well as attend seminars and clinics providing the most current information regarding Havanese health, breeding and care. The National Specialty is a unique opportunity to study the dogs, learn what's new and meet with fellow Havanese owners. The National Specialty is where we recognize the outstanding achievements of Havanese, and their owners who have excelled in every field of endeavor, from the show ring to the Therapy dogs working in their communities. Havanese Club of America Local Specialties

Local HCA Specialties are essentially mini-Nationals held through out different regions of the United States. They are hosted by local Havanese Clubs and endeavor to provide the same combination of show events, educational instruction, and social interaction as the National. They provide the new Havanese owner with opportunities to meet other Havanese owners within their geographical area.
