If you are looking for information about
Havanese, you've come to the right place! We are the Havanese Club of
America (HCA) - the national AKC Parent Club for the Havanese breed. Here
on our website, you will find information about our club as well as information
about the Havanese breed itself.

In 1979, a small group of dedicated Havanese fanciers
assembled for the purpose of forming a national breed club for the Havanese,
the Havanese Club of America. One of the goals was to seek AKC recognition
for our breed. At that time, there were nine members and the Havanese
was considered a "rare" breed. Today the HCA has about 400 members
and the Havanese is a member of the Toy Group with full recognition by
AKC.
- To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Havanese
and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection;
- To encourage the organization of independent local Havanese Specialty
Clubs in those localities where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed
to meet the requirements of The American Kennel Club;
- To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of
the breed approved by The American Kennel Club as the only standard of
excellence by which Havanese shall be judged;
- To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed
and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials
and agility events;
- To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials and
agility trials under the rules of The American Kennel Club.
